David Grider has been a practicing architect in New York City for over 20 years. Raised in California, he received his undergraduate degree in Studio Fine Art from UCSD and completed his Master of Architecture degree at UT Austin.
He founded David Grider Architect in 2010 after working as an Associate with Richard Dattner & Partners and Platt Byard Dovell White Architects.
The firm reflects David’s economic, aesthetic and ecological interest in creating new spaces that celebrate and maximize the reuse of existing buildings & resources.
With a love of projects in the public realm, under his direction the firm designs elegant solutions – often combining modern & historic elements – to create an Architecture of quality, transparency, and commitment to the future.
David brings a strong service ethic to the practice. His began working in middle school by delivering newspapers; worked part-time at a hobby store though high school and early college to pay rent and earn his private pilot license, and paid for college by teaching and working at the UCSD’s Hillcrest Medical Center Engineering Plant, the Technology Application Group, Hydraulics Laboratory, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, the San Diego-based architecture firm PUBLIC, and the Austin-based design firm Fd2S.
He lives in Brooklyn with his wife & children.
